Message from Hayato "Ramen Prince" Ishiyama
In 2007, the first Taishoken restaurant "Taishoken Higashi-ikebukuro Honten" was regrettably closed due to the rezoning project of the area. Taishoken was founded by the Late Mr. Kazuo Yamagishi more than half a century ago, and he invented "Tsukemen" that has now spread all over the country. This "Higashi-ikebukuro Taishoken" was completed in 2008, supervised by Mr. Yamagishi. It of course proudly offers the legendary ramen and Tsukemen.
The characteristic egg noodle is slightly yellowish and has the great chewy texture. The special soup is made with well-balanced dashi stock of pork, chicken, and seafood; in addition, sweetened vinegar is added to give a great refreshing flavor. Another feature you should know is its portion size; the regular served portion at Taishoken is traditionally as large as large-sized portion at other ramen restaurants!
